The Russian Studies Center (RSC) is the newest Learning Center under the School of International Relations of New Era University (Philippines) - a world-class Institution of learning with a unique Christian culture of excellence, discipline, and service to humanity.
To foster understanding of Russian geography and history, language and culture, science and technology, and international relations through lectures, visualization, interactive and participative learning, and an interdisciplinary approach to teaching.
The course method will be comprised of a series of lectures, facilitated webinars and discussions, reaction reports, and final assessment (rating).
The Center intends to hold the lectures in classrooms or plenary hall and online in case the speakers are abroad.
But considering the current pandemic and if in case face-to-face classes will still not be allowed in the near future, the Center is open to conducting the classes purely online where lessons will be through webinars and videos of virtual tours and shows.
The New Era University (NEU) and the Moscow State Institute for International Relations, known as MGIMO, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for academic collaboration way back 2018, three years prior to the establishment of the NEU-Russian Studies Center. The memorandum yielded among other things the establishment of Russian Language Center at NEU, faculty exchange program, identification of scholarship opportunities in Russia, and mounting seminars, conferences and workshops.
Now that the Russian Studies Center has been established, the NEU looks forward to a deeper cooperation with MGIMO, not just in terms of language programs but other academic programs, including cultural exchanges, as well.
Aside from MGIMO, the Moscow State University (MSU) has also agreed in principle to explore possibilities of academic cooperation, including student and faculty exchanges, with NEU-RSC.
The report on the opening of the RSC is at 45:55.
